Hi guys just keeping this post alive with more info, wel last night was spot on for a change no lag, no choke no loss perfect all night, and the screenies and plots all tell the same story we can tell from within the server, so what did the Datacentre do differently last night eh eh eh ?

ping plots and screenies attached to this post as usual.

P.S. This was on my NTL connection as well smile.gif

I'm gonna ask the DC but I know they will say nowt has changed.
We did f00k all - shippy nvr got my msg for him to talk to the DC yesterday and I had no net connection myself.....
hmm...maybe I should have taken credit for fixing it personally wink.gif

Let's see how things go over the next few days before we get too excited....

not to burst the bubble, but when I was on last night, I was jumping all over and my loss and ping were through the roof. I wasn't the only one either, several people were compaining, katie being the one who springs to mind

me too, although I wasnt having problems with data loss (sat mainly on zero, sometimes peaked to 5)

My ping was sh*t but I think thats down to the network at work

the datacentre turned off the peered connection to NTL yesterday, now... this will have made a difference to all, mainly NTL customers.. It basically means that the routes the NTL users were forced onto were ultimatley better. This is due to the fact that the part of the network NTL peer to LINX is being "upgraded" to 10Mb for all users on that peer. Basically, they have offered the 10Mb connection to all the customers, and the NTL's infrastructure isnt good enough to cope (as yet).

As peering between tier 2 suppliers is contractual, the peer WILL get turned back on.. At somepoint today..

This could make things worse again.. or the routers could have learned that the new routes are better... I just dont know..

The reason this NTL issue effects everyone is this.. The NTL peer is most likey plugged into the same switch as all the other tier 2 suppliers (every ISP you use is Tier 2) and the bad network issues NTL are having is putting extra load on the network infrastructure. The hosts cant leave this unplugged as its a contractual obligation, that is what peering is. Its selling/buying connectivity to other networks.

The upshot.. wait and see what happens when the NTL peer is turned back on..

hey phat ant
As far as i am aware everyone that has been playing on biatch servers has been getting a bad connection over the last week or so, u may not have noticed it in game unless u were using net_graph 3 and noticing loss of between 3 and 30, even when i was recieving zero loss the servers were still getting lots of lag spikes as pictured earlier in the thread, which would of been the same for all of us as the spikes were at the server.

Hopefully everything is sorted. However i seem to have a new problem of loss at my isp :`(

so you are getting issues ate ISP end now.. joy!

So am I..

I am on 2Mb ADSL, getting loss and re-routes.. and getting a max throughput of 400Kb instead of nearer 1800Kb

hurumph..

They are running diags on the entire line now..

it seems that a "global" problem as I first inclined to may still be around..

NTL and Nildram users are reporting the best connections ever - the rest of you just need to change ISP or move closer to the servers laugh.gif
