I've decided at long last that I don't want to sit and try and play games on my shite old system anymore.

I started off by looking for new graphics cards. I then figured I'd get a PCI-E card and so have to upgrade mobo. So I upgraded the mobo and then found I'd need to get a new hard drive. So I got a new hard drive.
I also figured I'd get some better RAM and a better soundcard and even a new Processor.

Here's what I ended up with. Altogether it costs £510 which is pretty much as expensive as I'm gunna go, give or take another £50.

Graphics - XFX GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB DDR3 DUAL DVI VIVO PCI-E

Hard Drive - Seagate 120GB ST3120827AS Barracuda 7200RPM SATA/150 8MB Cache - OEM

RAM - Corsair (VS1GB400C3) 1024MB, DDR400 / PC3200, non-ECC, 184 DIMM, unbuffered, CL3...

Mobo - ASUS A8N-SLI Premium skt939 nForce4 Gigabit Ethernet Firewire 8channel audio

Processor - AMD (Venice) Athlon 64Bit 3200+ Socket 939pin 512k L2cache 90nm Retail Boxed Pro...

Sound Card - Creative SoundBlaster Audigy2 Platinum eX 6.1 Soundcard - OEM

Now being the noob that I am, I tried my best to make sure everything would be compatible, but I've probably overlooked something. You guys know alot more than me so if you see any problems with this bunch of stuff, or if you could recommend better components for better gamer speed at about the same price, then I'm all ears.

The quicker I can get all this stuff bought and running, the quicker I can get on CS/BF2/CoD2/WoW and sodomise you all.

I went for Viz' soundcard recommendation, it's only another £15.


Just tried to get stuff with some potential for upgrading later. In the future I can get another few sticks of RAM and either another 7800 GTX to run in SLi or two better cards.

Now I just gotta tidy up my funds and buy the damn stuff.

Alrighty then. I decided that to benefit my new specs I'd need a bigger case and monitor and mouse and junk.

I've now got a fat list for a full new gaming rig for £1063.50

Christ almighty. This one is gunna take some damn good sweet talking.
