Hi guys, I ahve just set up me new 5.1 surround sound

just fuck about with it loads, you may have to download new drivers or whatever and you can probably get those from the company website which makes you sound card. My sound card is fucked up and isnt recognised by my pc, i have 7.1 surround but only 2 speakers work haha. i hope you have better luck.

Ni havnt disabled my onboard audo, How do u do tht? also, my digital output on my pc is but onto the motherboard, it isnt on a soundcard, i dont have a soundcard, thats why i was asking about the Trust one, coz i would use the optical output. instead of digital coaxial.

You're using your onboard sound thunder? Well it's probably only 2.0? No point disabling it if you haven't got a sound card to use.

Find out how many speakers your onboard sound supports.

It supports 5.1 audio then, so no need to buy a soundcard.

Have you plugged it in? tongue.gif

Seriously though, I have no idea. biggrin.gif

just a thought, have you changed the settings in control panel. check Sound, Speech and audio, then Change the speaker settings, advanced in speaker settings there sould be a drop down to select your speaker type.

Well that's because music and sound is in stereo format, not 5.1.

CMSS-3D is a technology found in alot of Creative sound cards which allows you to upmix stereo content into 5.1 sound.

no no, whats weird is that if i play films in power dvd or media player, or real player, it is not on 5.1. but when i play them in WinDVD they are in 5.1 ??? if i play in those first 3 it is only in Fr and Fl speakers... edit: and when i do a proper speaker test (in the speakert manager) i click on center, no sound... Subwoofer, no sound. Front right SOUND !, Front Left SOUND !! Sorround right... No sound sad.gif Surround left no sound played sad.gif

So whats up ?

You won't hear me coming up behind you with a knife out. devil.gif

I don't know what the deal is with your AC97 audio but try doing this: Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Advanced speaker settings > select 5.1 surround sound from the drop down menu.

If it works in 5.1 for BF2 and DVDs I wouldn't worry, it's doing what it's supposed to.
