Hello,
Thank fuck, at last I am going to be moving abroad on a permanent basis and not likely to be spending much time in one place for too long.
Am I going to be giving up CCS?......like fcuk I am so my trusty desktop will simply not do and I will have to buy one of those new fangled laptop things.
I know nothing on the laptop front and going on my limited knowledge have picked out this one:
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/ASUS_A6Ja-Q...02H/version.asp
What do you guys think? Any other suggestions? Bear in mind that, that price is about my limit and I do not require the absolute latest hardware, just as long as it play OK.
Cheers guys

Viz, its a core duo, so clock speed won't be high, clock speed has no real relevance with it. Look at AMD, most of their processors are lower in clock speed the Intels, and they still own. It seems to be a good machine, I can't see any reason why it won't run CSS.

Yes but CS:S as far as i know isn't optimised for dual core. And it is an Intel chip, not an AMD so it is relativly slow. Have a look at some forums to see if anyone else has had success playing it, failing that there are plenty more desktop replacement laptops that don't use mobile technologies so all you would lose would be wifi but you would gain a 3ghz+ CPU and then you can just add a Wifi adapter to it if that's what you need.

Have a look around, and if anyone else has any insight as to whether it will work.....
In my opinion, if your gonna be using it at home plugged into power, you can't go far wrong with AMD's Athlon 64 X2 range, although not if you plan to use it on the go (battery life etc), although these are really optimised for desktops. Pentium M is supposed to be ok if you need power on the go...

in short. no.
the gfx card will be poop and you sure as hell wont have much fun playing it.
wouldnt get an athlon in a laptop to be honest, the core duo chips are far better even if they are clocked slower. but it would be better to obtain something with perhaps a core duo t2500 or there abouts, but make sure you got something like a 7600 or 1600 at least in the machine for gfx or your not going to have much fun
having a quick look about, there seems to be alot of choice of random shite hehe hard to get a good gaming lappy for that kinda cash as they all seem to skimp out on the gfx card, jam them with good cpu mem hard drive etc.. then stick in a rubbish gfx system.
any how here are a couple
http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/compaq_hp-nc84...laptop-3-n2.htm
looks ok but might be abit out of budget.
http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/fujitsu_siemen...laptop-3-n2.htm
also good but MASSIVE screen hehe perhaps abit too big to cart about.
i duno there just suggestions.
good luck with your choice.
try and read some reviews if you can before you buy.

Dont expect to run everything on high, but as you have already said, you dont care. It should at least run the game though, as I have run it on a Sempron with 256 mb of ram before whilst i was waiting for ins money, so you should be fine. Anyone agree?
